Learning
“Learning is not child's play; we cannot learn without pain.”

Thoughts - We need to really put ourselves into collecting data. It should never be put in a neat little dish and served up to the students as a meal. Think ahead to what you need - moved what you have gathered into a specific location - make sure you have what you need. Sort precisely. Draw on something I knew in the past that is now present.
A little experiment - my initial group felt comfortable and we knew the rules. Second group not so much. It was soon apparent that not everyone had the same rules. Very frustrating - at first it was funny, the frustration, then complete resignation. I wonder if that is how my students feel at times. Controlling the learning environment and not the student. Let students judge for themselves. Every behavior has a purpose - J. Erwin. Ignore the noise - cultural capital - social mores. Unmask the layers.
Equity - they are held accountable. Are we allowing time to really think? We have the pressure to produce. Democracy requires diversity. Pendulum always swings back -
Teacher subcultures
Compliance - just do it - under pressure
Non-compliance - closed the door - nope, no way
Subversion - secret do good stuff, don't tell, maybe not being ethical
Democratic - learning communities, we have a voice
The beginning of the process - so immature
Process of Learning
Take the big ideas and put into a statement.
*Constructivism helps students navigate learning
*The process of thinking/learning
Why am I doing this - student engagement, student learning, the process - shall let this simmer for a minute
*Providing student choices to demonstrate their learning leads to greater student engagement
