Aha! I think I am getting it . . . my musings . . .
Shift happens. What does this information mean for me and my students? My job is to prepare students for a new flat world. I plan to have all my students watch this video. I do notice the video is already outdated which is somewhat ironic. The data this shows is sad. It shows how behind the U.S. is in our world today. One thing I am not doing with my students would be connecting with other students globally. We certainly have the technology - but I am finding I don't have time. Once I complete this journey, my next one will begin. Again, I would be walking with my students and as they connected with other students, I would connect with other educators from around the world. The possibilities are endless.

How will choice effect students? Choice theory - students will become motivated when given the freedom to choose how they meet a competency. Should I make competencies for my classes? Does this effect choice? Learning Revolution - Learning Outcomes! Objectives, skills, seat time, independent learning. Why is the content important to students? How will it help them in the adult/real world? Inquiry, competencies, engagement. Reflective learning. what students know and not how much time they spend learning it . . . food for thought.
Gathering rich data - I love these questions and will continue to use them for many classes - including adults.
