Hmmmm . . .let me think about that.
Values - whose values do we teach? Values must be defined. Create values for the classroom. Values change. Are there universal values. Do some have a lack of values? What does this look like? Some values have changed. Some have a sense of entitlement. Are values still taught in school? Cultures and life can affect values in our society.
Values - how do you pull them back in when someone has left the group? Fair is not equal. When they leave it breaks down the community. We admit to our mistakes. I can break a rule and it will not hurt - but if I break a value it hurts inside. Accept others when they are wrong. debate the issue, not the person. Practice tolerance.
Trust * Communication * Commitment * Respect * Unity * Optimism * Compassion

Thinking . . .
I realize we all have different values. My own values are treating others as I want to be treated. I also hold true about not making others feel bad about themselves. All people have the right to be treated fairly. I try to model this for my students. I feel I am a kind, generous, and loving person. We should not be greedy and sharing is something I value.
I love how this process played out. The entire process was one of learning, enjoyment, and seeing a side of my fellow learners that I was not aware of. It was enjoyable to watch small groups come up with different ideas and ways to create a set of values. I loved seeing a few learners become so passionate about what they believe in. I could see it in myself as the day continued. My stubbornness for my beliefs and ideals were one of little surprise.
I can see, as teachers, well actually all of us, hold true to our own values and beliefs. The difficult part is instilling some of these ideas or values in our students who struggle with some of these very things.
Really thinking . . . It is the end of the semester and a time to reflect - NOT It is time to "swim in literature" and really start thinking about our research. Read, Read, Read.
We have started out in so many little pieces throughout the day. We have added values, reflection, and groups - we have uncovered many pieces and are slowly making a whole. The sum of the whole - hmmmm
What is my red thread - the word why. my red thread has always helped my students question and has become a class motto - Why? Why indeed!
The bag experience helped me understand the importance of sorting my research. It also showed me that some sources will evolve into something else or a different section of my report. Am I making it relevant for everyone? "It stretches us."
*Evolving *Living *Changing
Oh my, oh my - First draft of my introduction -
